1) What Adobe apps are you proficient in?
I have become proficient in using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Animate, Photoshop, and InDesign. Though the app I a most proficient in of the apps is Illustrator. I have used Illustrator to help create movie poster designs, book cover designs, and mockups for different projects both inside the classroom and outside of it at my internship.
2) Why are you interested in creating children’s book covers?
I have always enjoyed reading books while growing up from all the way through Elementary. I would get super excited when the Book Fair came around and I got to see all the different book covers while I browsed. I would love to turn my passion for art and design and combine it with my love for reading. As I hope to become skilled enough over time that some of my own designs will be seen by children when they look through a book store.
3) What have you learned at your internship?
Throughout my internship at Robinson’s Family of Business, I have been tasked with creating a plethora of mock up designs for their graphic design department as well as learning first hand how they handle their screen printing process. These projects have ranged from creating mockups for simple cutting board designs to creating flyers for official events, to helping screen print shirts in bulk for customers. I believe the range of these projects help round me out as a Graphic Designer, and how I can better design items so that they come out to be their best quality. Regardless of whether it ends up on a paper or T-shirt.
4) How does your Marketing minor influence how you work as a graphic designer?
I took on a Marketing minor in order to better understand how I can not only advertise my skills as a graphic designer, but also how these skills can be implemented in a business setting. I wanted to have at least a basic understanding of how to operate as a business woman who could use her skills as a Graphic Designer in scenarios where a client wants to advertise and sell their product, or how to use my expertise in the Adobe apps to the benefit of any business I am working for.
